When to Call the Doctor?

CALL 911 OR EMERGENCY SERVICES RIGHT AWAY IF YOUR CHILD:

  • Cannot breathe
  • Is not able to wake up
  • Is having a seizure

CALL YOUR HEALTH CARE TEAM RIGHT AWAY AT 864-455-8898 IF YOUR CHILD HAS:

  • Fever of 100
  • Other signs of infection
    Pain, redness or swelling anywhere in the body, sore throat, ear ache, stiff neck, pain when urinating or having a bowel movement, pain or redness at the site of the port or central line catheter, or chills
  • Exposure to chicken pox
  • Bleeding
    Nose bleed or bleeding from the gums that does not stop within 5-10 minutes of applying gentle pressure, blood in the urine or bowel movements, vomit or bowel movements that look black, easy bruising or tiny red freckles on the skin
  • Difficulty breathing
  • A change in behavior or level of consciousness:
  • Being very sleepy and being irritable, or not making sense when talking
  • Vomiting, diarrhea and not able to eat or drink
  • Severe Headache when he/she wakes up
  • Break in the central line catheter
